Cyrus the great day

29 October is Cyrus the great day. Happy to whoever that valorizes Human Rights! 🙂🥳
According to some historical records, it seems was a day when Cyrus the great entered Babylon.🤴🏻
In 539 B.C., the armies of Cyrus the Great, the first king of ancient Persia, conquered the city of Babylon. He freed the slaves, declared that all people had the right to choose their own religion, and established racial equality.
These and other decrees were recorded on a baked-clay cylinder in the Akkadian language with a cuneiform script.
The writing depicts the first known large empire with the first true states and provinces encompassing different cultures.
This ancient record has now been recognized as the world’s first charter of human rights. It is translated into all six official languages of the United Nations and its provisions parallel the first four Articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

The original object is on the display of he British Museum.

The following from this ancient cylinder are part of the rendition of the spirit of his message in modern English:
1. I declare that I will respect the tradition, customs and religion of the nations of my empire and never let any of my governors to look downn or insult the inhabitants of my nations.
2. I hereby abolish slavery; my governors are ordered to prohibit exchanging men and women as slaves' within their ruling domains. Such a tradition should be exterminated the world over.
