Is Hafez (great poet) able to Hefz (protect) Iranians?
While ago I was talking with my American friends and as usual we were talking about similarities or differences in our cultures, till that moment that she asked:
Why are you so connected to history and tradition even in your daily life and lifestyle?
And I had nothing to answer except that "We are (Iranians) living with history which influenced by ancient Persian culture and tradition and Persian literature".
Or I made an example of Hafiz (Great Persian Poet), that how much his poetries affected our lifestyle.

Sometimes the question of a stranger can lead you to ask about yourself from yours and your identity. That is why I realized that the spirit of the history of Iran which is as old as human civilization is still alive even after modernization in the Iranian context.
People emotionally attached to their cultural heritage whether tangible or intangible, and that is one of the main aspects that they come together from each and every community for it.
On 4th January 2020, President Tump's threat to bomb Iranian Cultural sites if Iran retaliates for General Suleimani killing, which not only shocked Iranians also people across the globe because if it happens, It is a war crime.
I had never thought that Trump would be this much smart to target the most important aspect of my society, which means our identity. Those cultural sites are human heritage and belong to all nations, not only Iranians. And I took this opportunity to read, sing Hafiz poetries to release my tension.
The movement was started by the Director-General of Iran National Museum, by publishing the statement against Trump's threat.

Which leads other Museum's director and Cultural Institution to take necessary actions like statements, that took 24 hours by the effort of Iranian museum experts and executive board member of ICOM (International Council of Museum), Mrs. Golnaz Golsabahi to publish a statement by ICOM and ICOMOS that jointly and strongly condemn any deliberate destruction of cultural heritage.

And after that, there were numerous statements published by Museums/Cultural Associations, or Directors or Scholars. These are some of the examples:
Meanwhile, Mika Nyman the Co-reference of CIDOC (ICOM International Committee for Documentation) posted a status:
THE SOUL OF A POET. President Donald Trump has threatened to destroy 52 targets in Iran, including cultural sites. The number 52 is a reference to the 52 Americans held captive in the US Embassy in Tehran in 1979. This planned raid of the destruction thus has a metaphoric function - Trump uses bombs like a poet uses the pen. Additionally, President Trump expresses his understanding of the value of culture. He realizes, that it is meaningful to destroy it, as Iranians are a civilized people. I wonder, which targets his poetic imagination has selected. Maybe the tomb of Hafez in Shiraz? And he was right!
But I think it is true also that "There is An Opportunity in Every Threat" because it is all misunderstanding about Iran on media, but this threat leads the world to see more photos about the beauty of Iran which there were hundreds of Iranian cultural sites photos that people were sharing on social media.
On the early morning of January 8, 2020, A passenger plane bound for the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, has crashed a few minutes after taking off from Tehran's main international airport, killing 176 people.
It was heartbreaking after all these tensions...

Open is the ghazal (poem) "Patience and Victory". Its first lines, very roughly translated, are
I hope that somehow,
+ with my mind and my hand,
I could make this grief, at last,
+ come to an end.
The heart, it seems, is not a place
+ where opponents can meet.
When the demon goes out,
+ within the angel's light will come.
In the darkness of Midwinter Night
+ the mighty make their plans.
Call out for the sun, and perhaps,
+ a brighter day will come.
"And yes, Hafez is able to protect Iranian identity."
